Xiaomi has announced that it will be the first company to launch a 108-megapixel camera phone(Xiaomi Mi MIx 4).
The huge Samsung ISOCELL 108 million pixel sensor will be manufactured exclusively for Xiaomi by Samsung Semiconductor. No other brand can buy the technology from the Korean manufacturer for a few months.
A 108 MP sensor produces images with a resolution of 12302 x 9024 pixels, nine times larger than a 12 MP sensor like the iPhone XS. Although there is no more information than the announcement itself, the famous Ice universe phone filter suggests that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 could release the sensor.
Interestingly, the milestone of the 108 MP was announced at an event about the next Redmi, which will release a 64MP Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor:
Xiaomi has dedicated the morning to compare the new 64 MP sensor with other conventional sensors, but the announcement of a future 108 MP phone has made comparatives dull. It should be remembered that phones with large sensors usually combine pixels in smaller and more manageable photos, but collecting more information about the scene than a small sensor.
