Technology-led innovation is at the center of driving modern solutions. But what goes into the minds of tech-savvy individuals who are the minds behind what we see today? Everything has been made possible, and the line to draw where the impossible begins seems to dwindle. Anything and everything in and beyond human imagination is conceivable. The inconceivable is the new standard to achieve, and Nancy AI Kalach is an individual in this field who believes that creating systems that empower humans is her living, breathing thing.

Women in tech roles is not a new sight. Women’s leadership, however, has seen an increase in recent years. Women are now leading, creating, and innovating. Nancy, as a senior technical leader today, feels that she knew she was made to do what she was doing. As a child, her inquisitiveness to understand how systems worked was an early beginning to a realization that she wanted to be at the backend of what many see. Her eagerness to study the know-how of tech-led her to be a problem-solving expert, one with technical excellence and a passion for empowering both systems and people.

Nancy knew that choosing the right career meant achieving the right qualifications. ‘There are professions out there that do not necessarily require you to have a degree, I knew I was on a different horizon so the first integral step was know the subjects I will study,’ she said in response to the question of why she chose industrial engineering. The blend of technical depth with real-world operations appealed to her, and so she enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering at the Lebanese American University.

Nancy’s professional life took a decisive turn in her final year of college, where her growing interest in software as a tool for operational efficiency led her to explore programming and technology-driven solutions. To fulfill her quest to study this in-depth, she did a self-paced full-stack program at App Academy before pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Software Engineering at the International Technological University. Her role today is a combination of her interesting academic choices.

Her career in Salesforce development has been nothing short of impressive. At Illumina, Nancy led the design and implementation of scalable Service Cloud solutions that transformed field and customer service operations. ‘I focused on developing robust Apex classes, Lightning Web Components, and Visualforce pages to tackle complex business logic,’ she says. Her work includes developing robust Apex classes, Lightning Web Components, and Visualforce pages to handle complex business logic. She has also led API integrations with third-party systems, significantly improving data synchronization and operational performance.

Prior to her role at Illumina, Nancy worked at CRMantra, where she successfully implemented Salesforce customizations utilizing Apex, LWC, and other declarative tools. She played a key role in the implementation of Salesforce Industries Order Management and MACD flows, as well as integrating external platforms through MuleSoft APIs. Her efforts in modernizing and refactoring codebases resulted in reduced technical debt and improved long-term maintainability.

Nancy’s early experience as a Junior Salesforce Developer at EI Technologies MENA involved designing user-friendly interfaces and automating business processes with Flows and Apex triggers. She developed integrations using Platform Events and REST APIs and created custom approval workflows. Additionally, she focused on maintaining data integrity through validation rules and data cleansing processes, which are integral to her technical methodology.

With her Salesforce Platform Developer II certification and other relevant qualifications, Nancy has a solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system scalability. She effectively balances backend logic with user-friendly client-side interactions, ensuring a seamless experience with applications.

But Nancy’s professional success does not end here. Her leadership skills and collaborative approach is warmly welcomed wherever she goes.  She has worked with product owners and business analysts to translate requirements into effective solutions while also leading initiatives for knowledge sharing and code reviews to support junior developers. Her leadership fosters a culture of trust and continuous learning.

Nancy is adept at troubleshooting and debugging, frequently addressing complex business challenges. For example, she identified and resolved a significant data synchronization issue between Salesforce and an external quoting tool, establishing a decoupled architecture that improved reliability.

Her comprehensive approach to data management incorporates detailed profiling, advanced cleansing methods, and the use of tools like SOQL, Data Loader, and Python to uphold data quality and system integrity.

Looking ahead, Nancy aims to take on more strategic technical leadership roles, where she can influence architectural decisions, guide product development, and mentor emerging developers. She is dedicated to lifelong learning, actively pursuing new certifications, contributing to open-source projects, and sharing her expertise through technical writing within the community.

Nancy Al Kalach’s career reflects a blend of technical proficiency, systems thinking, and a practical approach to problem-solving. Her work consistently contributes to business objectives, enhances technology standards, and supports team development, embodying the qualities of an effective engineering leader.
